For a number of years, the local policing team have been able to use facilities at Newport Fire Station as a pit stop, but Donnington remains their base. The population of Newport has risen significantly since Newport’s police station was closed in 2013. Crime in Newport rose 13% in the year to June 2022, compared with the year before.
