Community campaign sparks action on Bratton Play Area concerns

27 Jan 2023

Telford & Wrekin Council are finally taking action at Bratton Play Area following a successful petition organised by Cllr Kim Tonks and resident Siobhan Bergman.

The Play Area has been in desperate need of repair for several years and Cllr Tonks has been reporting issues and requesting funding for upgrades since 2021.

After being told that funding was not available on several occasions, Siobhan and Kim decided to take action with a residents’ petition. With the support of 305 signatories, this was delivered to the Council who have now agreed to attend a site visit to discuss the issues and assess the work required.

“I am so pleased that this play area will hopefully get the attention that it deserves and be a safe recreational area for local children,” Cllr Tonks told Focus.
“Thank you so much to all the residents who signed the petition and this just proves that people power can have a huge impact.”
