Telford & Wrekin Liberal Democrats were pleased to see the party's share of the vote treble in both Telford and the Wrekin constituencies in this year's general election.

Thomas Janke and Shana Roberts at the General Election Count Telford

Thomas Janke in The Wrekin received 4,067 (8.3%) votes up 5.6% on 2017 and Shana Roberts, in what was an ultra Conservative-Labour marginal, received 2,657 (6.2%) votes up 4.1% on 2017.

Commenting, local party Chairperson, Councillor Greg Spruce said:

"A disappointing night nationally was tempered by an increase in our vote share nationally and locally. I'm delighted that we gave people in Telford and The Wrekin the chance to vote for local, young and community focused candidates. This comes off the back of a great year where we have doubled our local membership and increased our borough and town councillors. We will continue to argue for what we believe in; community, fairness and an open and tolerant society"
