Liberal Democrat candidate Mark Wiggin has won the Newport Town Council by-election. Cllr Wiggin gained 36.6% of the vote, beating the Conservative who achieved 29.9%. There was also a Labour candidate and three independents on the ballot, held in the South ward of the town.
Mark Wiggin has been selected as the Liberal Democrat Focus Team candidate in the Town Council by-election on Thursday 29th September.
Analysis of Home Office statistics by the Liberal Democrats has shown that a total of 174 extra officers have been recruited by West Mercia Police under the Government's uplift programme that started in September 2019.
